Five Yotes Hit NAIA Marks at Jackson's Invite

School record setting performances by Hillary Holt and Austin Basterrechea were among four NAIA Automatic Qualifying marks on the final day of the 2012 Jackson’s Invitational in Nampa.

Holt shattered the school record in the 800-meters (2:15.55) with a fifth-place performance against NCAA Division I competition. Teammate Kayloni Perry hit the NAIA “A” standard in the same race, finishing in a time of 2:17.63.

Basterrechea completed a great two-day run in the heptathlon – breaking his own school record by nearly 300 points, placing fourth with an NAIA “A” standard of 4,611 points. In his second event of the day, the sophomore broke the pole vault school record with a personal-best mark of 12-3 1/2, while finishing second in the final event, the 1,000-meters (2:47.78).

Greg Montgomery easily hit the NAIA “A” standard with his third-place finish in the mile (4:18.71) against a quality Division I field, while Sean Saxton hit the NAIA “B” standard with a seventh-place finish in the 800-meters (1:56.88).

The Yotes will take next weekend off in preparation for the Boise State Team Meet, set for Feb. 10-11.
