November 14
Sunday, 7:30 pm        (Performance Candids)

$16 - $20 adult; $12 - $16 student
Upper level seats are listed first. Includes all fees.

Experience the variety of some of China's 56 ethnic groups through music, court and folk dances, acrobatics, and martial arts. This company of 15 members provides family entertainment at its best. Powerhouse men steal the show with their displays of martial arts.

The program is divided into two acts. Act I: RHYTHM OF THE LAND features these traditional and ethnic dances of China. One dance celebrates the largest ethnic group in the province, the Dai. On a stage that looks like swirling silvery waves, a group of female dancers play in the "water." The dance tries to capture their gentle personality. Other dances feature lanterns which are prominent in Chinese New Year parades, and martial arts which showcase four young men from different tribes as they compete for the hand of a Pumi woman. Act II: DRAGON KING is based upon Chinese mythology that integrates dance, martial arts, and acrobatics. The act concludes with Celestial Dragon, a spectacular dance of an enormous florescent dragon.
