15 Tuesday, 7:30 pm (Performance reflections/pictures) Kotaro has a new website and he has posted pictures of his Caldwell visit. $9 - $13 adult; $5 - $9 student Reflections on the performer by Lili Saul, Corvallis-OSU Music Association A native of Tokyo, Kotaro Fukuma, twenty-one, began studying piano at age five with Kyoko Sato Mr. Fukuma won first prize at the 2003 Cleveland International Piano Competition and the Chopin Prize, and he won second prize at the 2002 Helsinki International Maj Lind Piano Competition with the special prize for the best performance of a Finnish composition. He also won first prize at the National Piano Teachers Association Competition (PTNA) in Japan at age seventeen in 1998, and won sixth prize in the Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Piano Competition in Salt Lake City in 1997.
During the next two seasons, in addition to his concertizing in France and Poland, Mr. Fukuma will perform in many states in the US including New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Florida, and Oregon under the sponsorship of the Cleveland International Piano Competition. Mr. Fukuma will record his debut CD of works by Schumann on Naxos in 2004.
