November
11 Friday, 7:30 pm $10 - $15 adult;
$6 - $11 student Daniel Stern, conductor GO BAROQUE!! Relive the vibrant music of the great masters of the 1600-1750s. George Frederick Handel’s Judas Maccabaeus is one of the great choral works of that time and of the world since then. The entire work takes three hours, but in keeping with today’s attention spans, this performance will be shortened to “Highlights.” Samson was the choice of the founding conductor, Richard Roller, but he needed to return to his family roots in Kansas, so the better choice for the new conductor, Daniel Stern, was Judas Maccabaeus. Dan is no stranger to musical events in the area having been a conductor of the Boise Philharmonic and Opera Idaho several years ago. Members of the orchestra and chorus include professional musicians from throughout the Treasure Valley who enjoy the challenge of playing in a smaller ensemble and specifically enjoy the radiance and the pathos of music in the Baroque era. The Boise Baroque is three years old. It performs four concerts throughout the season, first in Caldwell on the campus of Albertson College and then at the Cathedral of the Rockies in Boise. Caldwell Fine Arts is pleased to sponsor the November concert. Regular season tickets with Boise Baroque will be honored at the Caldwell concert. Read an Idaho
Press Tribune article about the performance. |
