This is the premier Baroque ensemble in the State of Idaho. Get in touch with history through the music of Handel, Vivaldi, and Bach as well as contemporary Idaho composers who have written music celebrating the spirit of the Era. This concert will feature brass soloists and a violinist. The musicians enjoy music that challenges their abilities.

The concert will include:
Locatelli: Concerto Grosso, Op.2, No. 6
Vivaldi: Violin Concerto, Op 11, No. 2 with Pal Hatvani as the soloist.
Telemann: Concerto for 2 Horns
Bartok: Rumanian Dances

Rather than import a player from another region, Dan Stern, in this program, provides members of the orchestra with the opportunity to showcase their skills.

The Boise Baroque Orchestra was formed in 2003, with the goal of bringing the best of the baroque repertoire to the Treasure Valley. The musicians are professionals in the area, many of whom perform with groups such as the Boise Philharmonic, the Boise Master Chorale and Opera Idaho. The Boise Baroque Orchestra is developing new audiences for the baroque repertoire and providing musicians with the opportunity to perform in a style where every individual instrument is very important.

Music Director and Conductor - Daniel Stern grew up in Rochester, New York. After earning his bachelor's degree from the Eastman School of Music, he moved to Oregon, where he taught in the Salem, Oregon Public Schools for two years. He then entered graduate school at the University of Oregon, where he earned his master's and doctoral degrees in Music. From 1971 to 1974 he was on the faculty of New Mexico Highlands University as professor of Music. He also performed as a violinist in the University Trio and played in the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra. Dr. Stern moved to Idaho in 1974 as Music Director of the Boise Philharmonic, a position he held until 1987. In addition, he has also conducted numerous performances with the Boise Opera and Ballet Idaho.
