Museum Workdays for 2010
The Museum is open on the first Saturday of the month with exceptions for some national holidays. 2010 exceptions: New Year's, 4th of July and Labor Day-when the workday is the 2nd Saturday of the month. There are a wide variety of tasks carried out under the guidance of Museum Director William H. Clark. Anyone interested in natural history or the Museum is welcome. The next scheduled workdays and (associated lunch seminars) are:
  • January 9: William H. Clark - "Baja California Research Expeditions during 2009"
  • February 6: Jeremy Younggren- "Archaeology in Israel - C of I Field School in Israel "
  • March 6: Share Maack- "College of Idaho Foundation and Corporate Relations Office and what we do relating to Grants"
  • April 3: Nathan E. Carpenter-"An Introduction to the North American Land Mammal Ages, with emphasis on regional faunas"
  • May 1: David Valentine - "A Ground Stone Quarry in Nevada's Black Rock Desert"

We can always use volunteers for a variety of tasks ranging from clean up and construction of cases and displays to curation of specimens, exhibit preparation, Museum paperwork, library collation and cataloguing, collection cataloguing, and general collection maintenance, etc. The Museum is open all day for curators to work and volunteers to work, network, visit, etc. The Museum is open at other times by appointment. The Museum supplies water and coffee and serves lunch to the volunteers at noon. A brief seminar, usually relating to natural history, is presented during lunch. Contact William H. Clark or Dave Ward if you would like to volunteer or need more information.
