Department Goals

By completing our course of study leading to one of the two majors, and three minors, a student will be able to:

  • Understand the historical, psychological, and sociological aspects of Physical Activity and Sport in a changing environment
  • Demonstrate a competence in human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and business principles
  • Understand the concept of human development through lifespan development
  • Participate and perform a variety of skills using team, individual, and choice approaches
  • Analyze exercise to modify and adapt exercise/sport to the individual
  • Use critical and reflective approaches to assess wellness, activity, and sport participation
  • Develop a personal exercise prescription
  • Apply teaching practices to local school districts
  • Monitor experiences of healthy choices through a diverse course selection of activity courses
