Theatre Department presents “Lapis Blue, Blood Red”

The College of Idaho Theatre Department presents “Lapis Blue, Blood Red” Nov. 6-8 and 12-15 at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. in the Langroise Studio Theatre.

“Lapis Blue, Blood Red,” is based on the tumultuous life of Italian Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi and dramatizes an extraordinary woman’s struggle to define herself in the face of overwhelming personal and social odds. The play samples from Gentileschi’s letters and the official text of the trial of the man accused of raping her and stealing one of her paintings, unveiling the passion and complexity of a true 17th century story.

The cast includes Amanda Richey, Amber Steele, Jessica Austin, Hannah Buckendorf, Mauricio Both, Tom Newby, Chris Ullery, Andrew Lloyd, and Allison Rabe.

Stage management is by Nena Curley, Steven Slupe, and Miranda Drake.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for non-C of I students and seniors. C of I students faculty and staff are free. Call 459-5426 to order tickets or purchase them at the door.
