Yotes Night Out

  • Congratulations to C of I senior Melanie Miller, the most recent recipient of the Student Affairs Integrity, Leadership and Service Award, given to students nominated by staff and faculty as someone who best embodies the values of the C of I community.   • Seven C of I senior art students will present their 2018 Senior Art Exhibition, “As Above, So Below,” starting at 4:30 p.m on Friday, April 20 in the Rosenthal Gallery of Art! The exhibition will be on display from April 20 through the end of the spring semester, and will also be featured at this year’s Student Research Conference. Read more about the exhibition here!

  • The College of Idaho Math Club is partnering with the Discovery Center of Idaho and the Orma J. Smith Natural History Museum to host Astronomy Day 2018 festivities starting at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 in the Boone Science Building, hosting a family-friendly event centered on celebrating the night sky.   • Coyote Athletics Roundup: The men’s lacrosse team clinched their second-straight Pacific Northwest Collegiate Lacrosse League South Division title with a big 30-8 win against the University of Portland. The Yotes will ride a seven-game winning streak into the PNCLL Division II Championships in Lake Oswego, Oregon, earning a quarterfinal bye with their victory…The football team will present their annual Purple and Gold Game on Friday, April 20 at 6 p.m. in Simplot Stadium…The men’s golf team placed third overall at the 2018 Warner Pacific Invitational at Stone Creek Golf Course, led by Chris Carew’s 54-hold scoring record of 4-under-par 212. The Lady Yotes saw similar results, placing in third at the invitational buoyed by three Top-10 finishes by Natalie Mullins, Katie Growe and Annika Thomas. The golf team’s season ends in two weeks at the Cascade Conference Championships at Pronghorn Resort in Bend, Oregon…Hayley Morse broke her own hammer throw school record for the third-straight meet at the Northwest Nazarene Invitational with a winning throw of 49.81 meters, while Payton Durochere hit a pair of Cascade Conference provisional marks…The baseball team snapped their losing streak with a win against Lewis-Clark State, improving their record to 11-33…The softball team lost their series against Corban University, earning one win out of four games.

  • Faculty and Staff Notes: C of I English Professor Diane Raptosh will host a spring adult poetry writing workshop from May 8-22 at The Cabin. The workshop is for poets of all abilities and experience levels. You can register for the workshop here!...Jeff Reed has joined the C of I IT Team as a support technician. A native of Twin Falls, Idaho, Jeff attended LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, majoring in computer science. He brings over 10 years of experience in IT and AV technology, most recently in providing technical support for Concordia University in Boise.
  • Alumni News and Notes: Tabitha Hyer Gutierrez has been appointed Canyon County area manager at First American Title Company, where her main focus will be on managing and developing business relationships, collaborating with real estate industry professionals and growing the Canyon County operation.
