In collaboration with Idaho State University and The College of Idaho's physician assistant program, this competitive application provides opportunities for students to be accepted into PA school as a junior or senior at the College of Idaho, in addition to receiving a yearly scholarship.

Salmon River Clinic Medical Internship

Are you interested in gaining experience in primary medical care in a rural environment?

​This primary and emergency care internship is for two undergraduate students at the Salmon River Clinic in Stanley, Idaho. Successful applicants must live on-site from early June through Labor Day weekend. These positions involve assisting resident staff 5-6 days/week as defined by clinic director in primary emergency care procedures for 2 consecutive summers (exceptions may be made for juniors). Students will also be trained as an EMT to assist in emergency calls.  Each student receives a stipend and free lodging at the clinic.

William Sype Pre-Health Care Scholarship and Research Fund

In honor of Dr. William (Bill) Sype, this competitive scholarship provides an opportunity for students pursuing a career in healthcare.  There are two options for awarding of funds for this award. The first is for an application of a scholarship to be contributed toward the costs of attending the College of Idaho. Second, students may apply for research funding to be used solely for expenses related to faculty directed and/or independent research projects, presentation of scholarly work at meetings/conferences, or attendance of meetings/conferences related to health care career goals.

Eligibility/Scholastic Requirements:(a) the scholarship is open to all College of Idaho students, regardless of major;  (b) the recipient(s) shall preferably be an upper level student, Junior or Senior level, although exceptional Sophomore student(s) may be considered; (c) the recipient(s) shall have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; (d) the recipient(s) shall have a demonstrated desire to pursue a health care profession following graduation as further in the link below.
