C of I hoops teams set for 'Meet the Yotes' night

Are you excited and ready to don your purple and fill the gym for a new season of Coyote basketball? We are, too! But before action tips off this fall at The College of Idaho, the C of I basketball coaches and teams want to meet you—the students, fans, season ticket holders and the entire Caldwell community who provide an electric home-court atmosphere for the Yotes.

Join men’s coach Scott Garson, women’s coach Mark Owen and their teams as they host “Meet the Yotes Night,” a basketball tipoff party set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center on the C of I campus in Caldwell. Fans also will be able to purchase and renew season tickets prior to the festivities, beginning at 7 p.m.

“This event will continue what is now a fantastic tradition to tip-off the college basketball season here on the C of I campus,” Garson said. “The school spirit that has been displayed during Meet the Yotes Night and all of our home games over the past two seasons has been nothing short of spectacular. We are so excited that the basketball season is just around the corner.”

Coming off back-to-back Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season and tournament titles, Coach Garson’s squad enters the season as the CCC preseason coaches’ poll favorite to win a third consecutive title. The Yotes also carry a 34-game home winning streak into the new season. Meanwhile, after a seventh-place finish last season, the C of I women’s squad was voted to finish fourth in the coaches’ poll as they look to return to their traditional spot amongst the CCC elite.

There is no admission charge for “Meet the Yotes Night,” which will include a 3-point shootout, a skills contest, cheering practice and opportunities for fans to compete for prizes and meet Coyote coaches and players.

“Both our men’s and women’s programs will be very exciting for our fans to watch this season,” Owen said. “We all look forward to seeing the YoteFam revved up and ready to go on October 26th!”

The men will open at home against Montana Western in the Taco Bell Shootout at 7 p.m. on Nov. 6 in a “Purple Out.” The women have their first home game against Montana Western at 7 p.m. on Nov. 27. Season tickets for Coyote basketball are on sale now. Purchase yours by contacting Bev Robinson at (208) 459-5223 or [email protected].
