Caldwell Fine Arts presents ‘The Nutcracker’

Experience the magic and wonder of the world’s most beloved ballet as The College of Idaho and Caldwell Fine Arts present Eugene Ballet Company’s The Nutcracker in Jewett Auditorium December 6 & 7. Join Clara as she encounters wondrous characters in her Christmas Eve dreams. With the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier as guides, Clara flies away to the Snow Kingdom and the Land of the Sweets, but not before battling the Mouse King and his pirate henchmice!

The full Nutcracker Ballet is offered Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. and for many families, it’s a holiday tradition they wouldn’t miss.

“We took our kids when they were little to things like this, and now we get to take our grandkids,” said JoAnne Barrand, a local grandmother. “The first time we went to The Nutcracker, I took all four of them, even the two boys. I thought they boys wouldn’t like going, but they loved it!”

Two Nutcracker Jr. performances are offered on Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. With a running time of just under an hour, the show is the perfect length for families with young children, or those who need a budget-friendly option.

“I appreciate the short concerts that are considerate of short attention spans,” Trisha Thayn said. “Nutcracker Jr. is just right for my kid’s ages, and Clara’s Tea Party is a great opportunity my kids to meet the dancers.”

To complete the evening, Clara’s Tea Party is offered before or after Nutcracker performances in the Langroise Center. A red carpet entrance, mini ballet lessons, tasty treats, crafts, and visits by The Nutcracker cast make this the party of the year. There is plenty for both boys and girls to enjoy. Tickets to the December 6 Clara’s Tea Party are available only to those attending the Nutcracker Ballet. The four parties on December 7 are available as add-ons to Nutcracker Jr. or as a stand-alone event.

Jewett Auditorium is located on The College of Idaho Campus at 2112 Cleveland Blvd. Caldwell ID.  Enter our parking lot at 20th and Fillmore. Additional parking is available at Oak and Indiana or on surrounding streets.
