Albertson College Debaters Win Honors in Bellingham

CALDWELL, ID- Albertson College debate team members Molly Maas of Seattle and Holly Stubbs of Jordan Valley, Ore., took first place in novice division debate with a perfect record at the William O. Douglas Western Washington University Invitational Tournament in Bellingham last weekend.
The Albertson team took fourth overall, behind the University of Oregon, Willamette University and the University of Puget Sound. Other schools in the competition included Whitman College, Gonzaga University, University of Utah, Lewis & Clark College and University of Wyoming.
Marissa Hill of Idaho Falls and Kristin Gribben of Seattle took second place in junior division debate.
In addition, Maas and Hill teamed up to take first place in the duet interpretive reading event.
Team members Tabitha Miller of Caldwell, Larry Daugherty of Caldwell and Richard Zuercher of Boise also won various awards in speech events and contributed to the team's performance.
In two weeks the team will travel to Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash. to compete in the Northwest Conference Division II Championship.
