CALDWELL, ID- Approximately 272 high school juniors have been selected to attend the 59th annual GEM Boys State program, sponsored by the Idaho American Legion, at Albertson College on June 9-15, 2002.
American Legion GEM Boys State is a weeklong course in local, county and state government. The participants learn about government through the process of actually taking part in party organization, electing officials and then carrying on a mythical government.

Several general assemblies will be held throughout the week, which will include presentations by a local political scientist, legislators and political party representatives.
The election of state officers will be held on the morning of June 12. The inauguration of the officers will follow at 11 a.m. On June 13 the entire delegation will converge on the Idaho State Capitol and hold sessions in the State House Chambers.
Graduation ceremonies will be held Friday evening, June 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Jewett Auditorium on the Albertson campus. The public is welcome to attend. During the ceremony, the two delegates and one alternate who will attend the National American Legion Boys Nation program in Washington D.C. July 19-27 will be announced.
