The C of I students to participate in national environmental event

2007. 10. 26.

CALDWELL Students from The College of Idaho's The Environmental Resource and Recreation Association (TERRA) will participate in the national Step It Up event on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. Those interested in participating should meet in front of the McCain Student Union.

Step It Up involves communities in all 50 states, which come together to call on local, state, and national politicians to take action against climate change.

Caldwell City Councilman Rick Wells and Rep. Nicole LeFavour will speak at the opening of the event.

Following the speeches, participants will march through the streets surrounding the college, hand out information about climate change and discuss how people's impact can be reduced.

Following the march, participants will gather at the student union building to make environmentally-friendly cleaning products and talk with local environmental organizations, including the Idaho Conservation League and the Boise Sustainable Living Community.

Step It Up will close with speeches from Vince Sanchez, a candidate for Caldwell City Council, TERRA Co-President Melinda Markin, and The C of I President Bob Hoover.

Immediately following Step It Up, there will be an organic barbeque and beer garden sponsored by TERRA, the Sigma Epsilon sorority, and The C of I Outdoor Program.
