Bethine Church to Discuss the United States
2002. 09. 17.
CALDWELL, ID- Bethine Church, wife of former Idaho Senator Frank Church, will speak on her memories of U.S. involvement in the Congo at Albertson College on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Langroise Center recital hall.
Church's discussion will be part of a presentation entitled 'Africa and the West: An Historical Encounter.' Professor Mee-Ae Kim, Albertson College assistant professor of history, will also present a history of the Congo region.
Wednesday night's program is one of six presentations that are being held as part of the Albertson College First Year Experience. As part of the program, all freshmen were required to read Barbara Kingsolver's book, 'The Poisonwood Bible,' which tells the story of a late-1950s family that moves to Africa as Baptist missionaries.
The presentation is free and open to the public, but space is limited.
