CALDWELL, ID- The Albertson College of Idaho campus newspaper, The Coyote, recently received a nearly $7,000 matching grant from the Gannett Foundation to help cover production costs and purchase new equipment.
The Coyote editor-in-chief, Caitlin Copple, applied for the grant last fall to supplement the newspaper's budget and purchase new computers and Quark publishing software.
The grant was originally approved by the regional board of the Gannett-owned Idaho Statesman and then forwarded to the international offices for final approval.
The Virginia-based Gannett Foundation awards funds to organizations based on need, their ability to strengthen youth and address community issues such as affordable housing and race relations. The Coyote will feature in-depth reporting on community issues during the spring semester in conjunction with a documentary writing class at the college.
The Coyote is published the first and third Thursday of each month. For more information or advertising rates, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 459-5509.
