Prominent Cold War Player to Give Lecture at Albertson College of Idaho

2005. 09. 22.

Foreign policy past and present will be the topics of the day when former U.S. Ambassador Jack Matlock visits Albertson College of Idaho.

The Boise Committee on Foreign Relations and CofI Politics and Economics Department are hosting the visit. Matlock, who served as ambassador to the U.S.S.R under Ronald Reagan, will visit the campus on Tuesday, Sept. 27 for a short lecture and question and answer session with students.

'This is a great opportunity for students to come in contact with someone who helped shape the Cold War for the crucial period toward its end, and to hear his thoughts about foreign policy today,' Rob Dayley, associate professor of political economy, said. 'We are excited to have Ambassador Matlock and the Director of the Boise Committee on Foreign Relations, Richard Slaughter, visit our campus.'

Following Lunch at ACI, Matlock and Slaughter will be taking a tour of Idaho's Wine Country south of Caldwell.

The public is invited to attend a public speech with Matlock at Boise State University on Monday, September 26th.

The Boise Committee on Foreign Relations, chaired by Dr. Richard Slaughter, is sponsoring Matlock's visit as part of the 60th anniversary of the United Nations. The Boise Committee on Foreign Relations is a chapter of the American Committee on Foreign Relations. The committee hosts speakers each month and discusses foreign relations issues.
