Albertson Collge Faculty and Staff Art Exhibit Opens Sept. 17 at Rosenthal Gallery
2002. 09. 09.
CALDWELL, ID- An exhibit of artworks by Jan Boles, Garth Claassen, Stephen Fisher, Stephen Grant and Lynn Webster, all Albertson College of Idaho faculty and staff, will be featured from Sept. 17 to Oct. 18 at the Rosenthal Gallery of Art on the Albertson College of Idaho campus.
The opening reception is set for Sept. 17 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.
The exhibit, entitled "Five at ACI," will feature the artists' photographs, watercolors, drawings and ceramic sculpture.
The work of Jan Boles consists of black and white landscape photographs in a panoramic format. Boles focuses on agricultural scenes, and has a particular interest in the patterns of plowings and plantings.
Garth Claassen will show large oil-stick paintings loosely based on elements in the Great Seal of Idaho combined with images from the history of ancient art, and references to the landscape and tools of present-day Idaho.
Stephen Fisher makes soda-fired ceramic vessels. These draw on traditional, oriental pottery forms, and are decorated with incised images of birds, hands and fountains.
Stephen Grant is a photographer and graphic designer. He will be exhibiting color and black and white photographs of landscapes.
Lynn Webster's mixed-media paintings include images of horses and mountains, and draw on a combination of traditional Native American and Christian beliefs. The composition of her pictures is reminiscent of Medieval Illuminated Manuscripts illustrating the liturgy of devotional hours.
The Rosenthal Gallery of Art is located on the Albertson College of Idaho campus and is open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday, or by appointment. Admission is free.
