Celebrate National Astronomy Day at Whittenberger Planetarium

2006. 05. 02.

CALDWELL (Idaho)- Try your hand at spotting planets and comets during National Astronomy Day at Albertson College of Idaho this weekend.

Saturday, May 6, is National Astronomy Day and community members are invited to celebrate with the Whittenberger Planetarium on the Albertson College campus.

The evening will begin at 8 p.m. in Symms Athletic Field with an activity to help participants better understand the movement of planets in the sky and the solar system. The activity will be followed by a series of brief planetarium shows and stargazing through telescopes. Mars, Saturn and the moon will also be visible if the sky is clear. The comet Schwassmann-Wachmann 3 will also be streaking across the sky later in the evening.

No reservations are required. People of all ages are welcome. Donations can be made to the planetarium in support of the event; however there is no cost for admission.
