Media Advisory: 300 Students Compete in History Day Competition

CALDWELL (Idaho) – Albertson College of Idaho will host 300 middle and high school students competing in the Idaho State Historical Society's History Day on Friday, April 14.
The statewide competition is an exciting and dynamic way to study historical issues, ideas, people, and events. Students are then encouraged to conduct primary and secondary research on a historical topic of their choice based within this year's theme of Taking a Stand in History: People, Ideas, Events.
During Friday's competition, the students will present their findings in papers, exhibits, performances, or documentaries that are evaluated by professional historians and educators.
All Day: Langroise –Displays, performances in both recital hall and theatre
Kathryn Albertson International Center (KAIC) – Documentaries, presentations
4 p.m. – Jewett - Awards Ceremony
This is the second year the competition has been held on the Caldwell campus. Albertson College will award three four-year scholarships of $20,000, $10,000, and $5,000 to the top three outstanding entries by a 9th, 10th, or 11th grader in an individual category. In addition, every student entered into the state competition will receive a five hundred dollar scholarship to the college.
The competition is preparation for the 2006 National History Day Contest, which will be held June 11-15 at the University of Maryland.
