CALDWELL – A group of Albertson College of Idaho students is working to address the issue of curbside recycling and now they are hoping for input from Caldwell community members.
The students will be hosting a town meeting/workshop on Wednesday, May 31, at 5:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room in Simplot Dining Hall
The students are members of the Community Relations Council, a group appointed by the Associated Students of Albertson College of Idaho to improve relations between the college and the City of Caldwell. Student Body President Sara Weller and Vice President Larry Olvera chair the group of 10 students.
This year the group decided to address the lack of a recycling program for the City of Caldwell. The students have been working with the City of Caldwell and BFI.
'We have done extensive research on recycling programs throughout the U.S. and concluded that communities benefit from recycling programs both economically and environmentally,' Olvera said. 'It is our goal to have curb-side recycling for the City of Caldwell by the end of this year. We have held many meetings with the Mayor and just recently finishing our first workshop with the Caldwell City Council in April.'
The town meeting on Wednesday is the next step toward the goal of implementation. Members of the Caldwell community are encouraged to attend.
