Albertson College Holds Annual Scholarship Competition

2005. 11. 03.

CALDWELL (Idaho) High school seniors can compete for one of 35 $8,000 scholarships to attend Albertson College of Idaho during the annual Kathryn Albertson Scholar Day.

Kathryn Albertson Scholar Day will be held Saturday, November 12, from 8:30am to 3:00pm.

Kathryn Albertson Scholar Day is designed to provide high school seniors a glimpse of the academic opportunities available at the college and an opportunity to compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships. The scholarship competitions, which are multidisciplinary, require students to discuss complex topics with faculty, audition or take tests.

In 1997, Kathryn Albertson, wife of Albertsons Inc. founder Joe Albertson and a 1929 alumnus of the college, donated $4.45 million to be used solely for the scholarships. A longtime supporter of the college, the Kathryn Albertson International Center on campus is named in her honor.

The Scholar Day Competition will consist of academic department presentations, personal interviews, an exam or essay and auditions where applicable. In addition, there will also be presentations from several student programs, tours of campus and a program for parents.
