CALDWELL, ID- In a show of support for Albertson College's mission of providing a quality liberal arts education, the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation recently donated $200,000 to the college's annual fund.
The gift will help the college fund its operations and boost scholarship opportunities for outstanding students.
'The Albertson Foundation firmly supports the college's mission, which for many years has provided students a place to get one of the best educations in the region,'said Jamie J.S. Skillern, community grants program officer.
Renowned for supporting educational programs, the Boise-based Albertson Foundation has generously supported Albertson College in the past, including the college's teacher education program and the college's scholarship program.
Since the college announced a budget shortfall last fall, the college has raised nearly $2 million. Compared to the same period last year, unrestricted gifts, including the gift from the Albertson Foundation, are up 148 percent, the total number of gifts is up 22 percent and athletic fundraising is up 173 percent.
'The Albertson Foundation's gift couldn't have come at a better time and is especially valuable to us in that it helps us continue the momentum that we have built in this fundraising effort,' said Kevin Learned, president of Albertson College.
