Vegetable oil-powered bus coming to ACI
2007. 02. 06.
A bus that runs on vegetable oil will be visiting the Albertson College of Idaho campus to promote alternative energy, outdoor activities and "leave no trace" outdoor ethics on Monday, Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Creating a Climate for Change bus, which has visited nearly 200 colleges in 47 states, runs on recycled vegetable oil. The oil is collected at restaurants and dining halls along the route. The bus also sports rooftop solar panels that allow the crew to power televisions, computers, a stereo and refrigerators.
Visitors to the bus can learn more about alternative energy as well as practice their skills on the climbing wall, perfect their fly fishing cast and learn about the National Outdoor Leadership School.
The Creating a Climate for Change bus is sponsored by the non-profit National Outdoor Leadership School and Stonyfield Farm organic yogurt makers.
The public is welcome and encouraged to visit the bus, which will be at the McCain Student Union.
