Albertson College to Honor Alumni at Homecoming Banquet on Oct. 5

CALDWELL, ID- Three distinguished alumni will be honored at the Alumni and Family Weekend Awards Banquet at Albertson College on Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. in the Simplot Dining Hall on campus. The awards are presented annually for distinguished alumni, service and family heritage.

The recipient for the Distinguished Alumni Award is:

Margaret (Peggy) B. Anderson, class of '62, LaGrande, Ore. After teaching physical education and coaching basketball, field hockey, track and field and volleyball at Eastern Oregon State College, the University of Arizona and New Mexico Highlands University, Anderson became the athletic director and professor of physical education at Eastern Oregon University in 1986. She earned the Cascade Collegiate Conference Female Athletic Director of the Year for 1997-1998 and the NAIA Award of Merit for 1993-1994. Today Anderson serves as director of Eastern Region State Games of Oregon and is the chairperson of the City of LaGrande Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission.

The recipients for the Alumni Service Award are:

Edward A. (Buzz) Bonaminio, class of '56, Boise, Idaho. After teaching and coaching at Caldwell and Borah High Schools, Bonaminio became head football coach at Albertson College from 1965-1972, where he also coached baseball, tennis, and skiing. Bonaminio went on to work for QSP, a fundraising division of Reader's Digest, retiring in 1995 after 20 years. Bonaminio served on the Albertson College Alumni Board of Directors from 1988 to 1992 and was instrumental in initiating the Albertson College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989. He was the driving force behind the reunions of 'The Nifty Fifties' in 1986 and in 1988 and in June 2002 he chaired the All Years Football Reunion.

Kenneth Howell, class of '81, Boise, Idaho. Howell is a law partner at Hawley Troxell Ennis & Hawley where his practice focuses on business transactions associated with the technology industry, real estate financing and development, and debtor/creditor relationships. Howell is active in community affairs, serving on the Board of Trustees at Albertson College, and is past president of the Friends of Channel 4, Inc., and the Downtown Boise Association. As a certified PADI Divemaster, Howell also assists in the instruction of scuba divers and in the organization of local diving events.
