2007. 02. 26.
CALDWELL – Rochelle Johnson, Associate Professor of English & Environmental Studies and Chair of the Environmental Studies Program at ACI, has been named one of the winners of the Women's and Children's Alliance Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) awards.
TWIN acknowledges outstanding women from diverse professional backgrounds. The TWIN program also supports the Women's and Children's Alliance, a non-profit agency that provides safe shelter to women and children escaping domestic and sexual violence.
Johnson has been at CofI for seven years and has helped develop the innovative Environmental Studies program. She also directs the Heritage Scholar Program.
Johnson is involved in the off-campus community as well, by participating in Caldwell's downtown revitalization project and serving on the Indian Creek Festival Planning Committee. Her work in fostering collaboration between CofI and the city has received national attention and was featured recently at a meeting of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.
Previously the Associate Editor of Women's Studies, Johnson has served on the governing committees of several professional organizations. The Association for the Study of Literature and Environment has elected her as President for 2008.
Rochelle will be honored at two TWIN events – a reception on April 12 and a luncheon on May 1.
