CALDWELL, ID- If magic and fantasy in fiction pique your interest - from "Harry Potter" to "The Wizard of Oz" - then plan to attend the Albertson College Lyceum Program on Jan. 21 at Albertson College.
Brian Attebery, an Albertson alumnus and professor and director of graduate studies of English at Idaho State University, will discuss "Magic in Children's Literature" at the program, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Simplot Dining Hall on campus. The public is welcome, and admission is free.
Attebery has lectured and published extensively on science fiction and fantasy literature, including "The Fantasy Tradition in American Literature," "Strategies of Fantasy," and "The Norton Book of Science Fiction" (with Ursula K. Le Guin). His research interests include fantasy and science fiction, folklore, and American studies theory and methodology, and in 1991, 1995 and 1996 was presented the Outstanding Research Award at Idaho State University. He is also an adjunct instructor in cello.
The Albertson College Lyceum program is geared at offering continuing education opportunities for the community.
