ACI hosts ArtsPowered School Institute
2007. 06. 19.
CALDWELL – For the fifth year in a row, Albertson College of Idaho is hosting the ArtsPowered School Institute, a residential professional opportunity designed to immerse educators in strategies for teaching and learning through the arts.
The institute is presented by the Idaho Commission on the Arts in partnership with the State Department of Education. Teachers who attend the institute gain skills to be able to use the arts in their classrooms as ways to engage learners, meet the needs of a variety of students, increase literacy, and promote creativity and critical thinking.
Approximately 80 teachers from around the state are attending ArtsPowered, which runs through June 22, including 65 of whom are staying in ACI's dorms.
In addition to attending workshops during the day, there are evening activities, including Boise troupe DROP Dance Collective, Open Mic Night, and a performance from cowboy poet Ernie Sites.
