RoomDraw

RoomDraw is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28th, in the McCain Cafe.

Mark your calendars! You or your roommate(s) must be present to select a room.

What is RoomDraw? RoomDraw is the process whereby current students select housing for the following year. Once registered, students are grouped with every other student who has been a full-time college student for the same number of semesters. Students with a higher number of semesters have priority to choose housing first. WIthin each group, students are randomly assigned a number and corresponding time to choose a room. For example, a student in the spring of their second year who has not attended school full-time anywhere else, will be a "4", because that student has been a full-time college student for 4 semesters (including the current semester). This process was developed with the help of students, and is periodically reviewed by a committee of students.

What do I do? Register for RoomDraw by clicking on the link below. Once you have submitted your registration, you have reserved your place in RoomDraw.

When will I know when I can select a room? You will recieve your lottery number and corresponding time to select a room via your yote email the week of March 13th.

What if my plans change? You may cancel your place in RoomDraw by Friday, March 24th, without penalty. After that date, but before you move into housing, cancellation will result in a $300.00 fine. Once you have signed up for housing at RoomDraw, you have committed to living on campus for the following year. You will not be allowed to cancel housing mid-year, except under extraordinary circumstances. Even if you move out, you will still be responsible for the cost of housing for the year.

Who is required to live on campus? Students in their first three years who are under 21, unmarried, and who do not have dependent children.

What about my meal plan? During RoomDraw, you'll also have a chance to indicate which meal plan you would like for next year. If you aren't yet certain, that is okay; you can adjust your meal plan until Friday, September 8th.

Other questions you may have:

I can't make it to RoomDraw that night. What do I do? The week before RoomDraw, the Residence Life Office will have forms available that you can fill out, allowing someone else to select a room for you. You can turn the form into ResLife staff, allowing one of us to select a room, or you can have a friend bring it to RoomDraw with them. They will need to show it to ResLife staff at RoomDraw, so that we know that person is allowed to select a room for you.

I've heard some students mention a petition out of the residency requirement. Students with extraordinary circumstances may submit a Non-Academic Petition to be reviewed by the Non-Academic Petition Committee. Petitions are reviewed on an as-needed basis. Turning in a petition means that your circumstances will be reviewed by a committee, not that you have been granted an exemption to the residency requirement. You should not make any other housing plans until you hear from the committee. Petitions are available at the Residence Life Office in Hendren Hall, and on the Residence Life webpage under the forms heading.

I have learning disability or other diagnosis that means I should have a certain type of housing. What do I do? Contact the Learning Support and Disability Services Office (located in Hendren Hall) to register your disability and to talk with the Director, Tony Kazan, about possible accommodations: [email protected].

I am interested in your gender inclusive floor. What do I do? Fill out an application, available on the forms section of the residence life webpage, and turn it in by Friday, March 17th. If you have any questions at all, please contact Jen: [email protected].
