Whittenberger Foundation continues C of I support

The Whittenberger Foundation aspires to help children and youth in the areas of education, arts and culture, health, social welfare, recreation and environment. Those goals align perfectly with the mission of The College of Idaho. 

The foundation recently continued its partnership with the C of I, awarding the College $30,000 as part of its Annual Awards Luncheon. In total, 53 educational and charitable organizations throughout Idaho were awarded grants totaling more than $178,000.

Caldwell Fine Arts presents ‘The Nutcracker’

Caldwell Fine Arts and The College of Idaho are proud to present Eugene Ballet’s timeless holiday classic The Nutcracker, set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 inside Jewett Auditorium on the C of I campus in Caldwell. The ballet is a treasured holiday tradition for Caldwell Fine Arts as the enchanting Sugar Plum Fairy, the scheming Mouse King and the brave Nutcracker Prince capture the imaginations of both children and adults year after year.

C of I Planetarium hosts November public show

The College of Idaho’s recently renovated Whittenberger Planetarium is set to host its November public show at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 inside Boone Hall on the C of I campus in Caldwell. The Planetarium, which now features new cove lights and handicapped access, will feature comets and comet landing in anticipation of the Rosetta mission’s plan to land on a comet this month. The show, which costs $5 for adults or $2.50 for children ages 4-17, also will include an overview of the current constellations and planets visible in the Idaho night sky.

C of I hosts Caldwell Youth Forum for local students

At noon Friday, more than 50 bright, lime-green shirts flooded The College of Idaho’s outdoor Centennial Amphitheater as high school students gathered for the 2014 Caldwell Youth Forum. Coming together from four local schools, the diverse group was handpicked by teachers and counselors to attend the event based on strong leadership qualities. The young leaders spent their day on campus learning about the danger of The Bystander Effect—and how to fight against it.

Orma J. Smith Museum set for annual Bug Day

The College of Idaho’s Orma J. Smith Museum of Natural History is pleased to present Bug Day, the annual celebration of insects that is becoming one of the museum’s signature events. Bug Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Idaho Botanical Garden in Boise. Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children and IBG members.

Campus Safety officers honored as life savers

Last September, Campus Safety Lt. Ben Mosley ’07 had come in on his day off to look at the schedule when a man ran into the office screaming, “Man down! Man down!”

Mosley and Corporal Zach Barker ’11 looked out to the tennis courts to see Jack Davis motionless on the ground.

While Barker dialed 911, Mosley grabbed a portable defibrillator and strapped it to Davis’ chest.

The device analyzed Davis’ pulse and came back with the reading: “shock advised.”

C of I releases single-game football tickets

The College of Idaho’s first football game in 37 years is just one month away, and tickets remain available to watch the Coyotes’ historic return to the gridiron. The C of I today has opened single-game ticket sales, with adult seats available for just $11 per game.

C of I campus hosts IHC's Baseball Week in Caldwell

The College of Idaho is set to host “Batter Up: Baseball in American Culture,” a week of free public programming happening July 13-17 as part of the Idaho Humanities Council’s Summer Institute for Idaho Teachers. The institute includes four public events, each set to begin at 7 p.m. in the Langroise Center for Performing and Fine Arts on the C of I campus in Caldwell.

C of I football season tickets still available

Tickets to The College of Idaho’s 2014 football season are on sale, and seats in all sections remain available to fans who wish to experience the return of small college football to Idaho this fall.

Reserved season tickets, general admission season tickets and family season packages are available for purchase online. Individual game tickets will go on sale in August. Ticket prices are as follows:

C of I planetarium set for May show, Astronomy Day

May is a big month for astronomy enthusiasts at The College of Idaho’s Whittenberger Planetarium, which will host its monthly public show May 2 followed by its annual Astronomy Day event May 10.
