Whittenberger Planetarium hosts September show

The College of Idaho’s Whittenberger Planetarium invites the campus community and the public to learn about the Autumnal Equinox at its upcoming September show. The show, set for 7 p.m. Sept. 19 inside Boone Science Hall on the C of I campus in Caldwell, will explore equinoxes, solstices and the circumstances that bring them about, as well as give an overview of the constellations and planets visible in the Idaho night sky this month.

Caldwell Fine Arts set for 2012-13 season

Caldwell Fine Arts is set to kick off its 52nd season celebrating the performing arts inside Jewett Auditorium at The College of Idaho. The 2012-2013 season begins Sept. 8 with the Beat Beethoven 5K Fun Run fundraiser and will feature 14 events and performances starring a wide variety of theatre, dance and musical guests throughout the school year.

College of Idaho alumna and longtime CFA director Sylvia Hunt ’59 is pleased with Caldwell Fine Arts’ 2012-2013 lineup, which includes a diverse blend of new acts and returning audience favorites.

Idaho Humanities Council institute comes to C of I

The College of Idaho is set to host a week-long institute for Idaho schoolteachers entitled “Visionary Landscapes: Willa Cather and the Search for Place in the West.” Supported by the IHC’s Endowment for Humanities Education and the National Endowment for the Humanities, the institute will offer 34 Idaho teaching fellows the opportunity to explore the novels of classic American author Willa Cather, including My Ántonia and Death Comes for the Archbishop.  The institute runs July 22-27 and includes a series of free public lectures inside Langroise Recital Hall on the C of I

Whittenberger Planetarium hosts June public show

The planet Venus will transit the sun on June 5, the last opportunity to witness the rare astronomical event until December 2117. The College of Idaho’s Whittenberger Planetarium invites the Treasure Valley community to learn more about the transit during its June public show, set for  7 p.m. June 13 inside Boone Science Hall on the C of I campus in Caldwell.

Philanthropy Council gives back to Caldwell

The College of Idaho’s Student Philanthropy Council recently awarded its 2012 grants to three organizations in the local community. This year’s grant recipients were the Mentoring Network, Caldwell Senior Citizens, Inc., and the Canyon County Organization on Aging. SPC President Michelle Wooten said the council chose organizations that benefited some of Caldwell’s most vulnerable populations.

Goodbye, C of I!

I did it!  I graduated!  It was pretty surreal to walk through campus in a cap and gown, only to realize that it would be my last time as a student.  

Yote Pride Day

In January, I discovered a new passion.  I bought a membership to the Caldwell YMCA, which is about a mile from campus, and found that I loved going to the group exercise classes.  I kept coming back for one in particular - a Cycling class at 10:15 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  The instructor, Ann, was fun, energetic and very motivating.  She played a variety music that suited everyone's taste.  I quickly noticed that she had a consistent group of regulars who would attend each of her classes - and I soon became one of them.  

College of Idaho reinstates football program

The College of Idaho will welcome football back to its campus, a move that also establishes the only small college football program in the state of Idaho.

C of I alumna fights against relationship violence

College of Idaho alumna Pamela Cathey '04 has dedicated her life and career to preventing violence. As the founder and CEO of A Frog in the Pot at C of I as well as the Institute for the Prevention of Relationship Violence at Buena Vista University in Iowa, Cathey works hard to create awareness of an issue that is prevalent in society, yet often goes overlooked or undetected.

Whittenberger Planetarium hosts May public show

Idaho will experience a partial eclipse on May 20. Thanks to The College of Idaho’s Whittenberger Planetarium, Idahoans will have an opportunity to learn about the eclipse in advance when the planetarium hosts a public show at 7 p.m. May 9 inside Boone Science Hall on the C of I campus in Caldwell.
