Rosenthal Gallery hosts first exhibition of 2013-14

The College of Idaho’s Rosenthal Gallery of Art is pleased to announce its first two exhibitions of the 2013-2014 academic year. The Rosenthal Gallery is hosting “Domestic Wild,” a joint exhibition by Kate Walker and Barbara Penn along with selected work from three additional members of the group Animal Sign/Animal Mind: Sue Pearson, Kryssi Stradidis and Melanie Yazzi. The gallery simultaneously is hosting “Debris,” a ceramic installation by Caroline Earley. 

Caldwell Fine Arts readies for 2013-14 season

Caldwell Fine Arts is set to kick off its 53rd season celebrating performing arts inside Jewett Auditorium on The College of Idaho campus. The 2013-2014 season begins Sept. 7 with the Beat Beethoven 5K Fun Run fundraiser and C of I Faculty Showcase, “The Lighter Side of Serious,” featuring members of the College’s art, music and theatre faculty. CFA will offer 14 events in all, showcasing a wide variety of live performances ranging from ballet and Baroque to fiddles and folklorico.

Music in the air: C of I set for spring concerts

From voice recitals to the Sinfonia Spring Concert, music is in the air this May at The College of Idaho. Here is a preview of each performance:

C of I senior exhibition connects art and experience

The College of Idaho is pleased to announce “Experiential Continuum,” an exhibition of work by the 14 graduating art majors of 2013. The show opens with a reception from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 26 and runs through May 18 at the recently renovated Rosenthal Gallery of Art inside Blatchley Hall on the C of I campus in Caldwell. Admission is free and open to the public between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays or noon and 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

College of Idaho theatre presents ‘The Gut Girls’

The College of Idaho Theatre Department is pleased to present its spring 2013 main stage production The Gut Girls, a drama written by British playwright Sarah Daniels. The show plays at 7:30 p.m. nightly April 11-13 and April 17-20 inside the Langroise Studio Theatre on the C of I campus in Caldwell. There also is a 2 p.m. matinee closing performance April 21. Tickets cost $15 for adults or $10 for seniors and students. C of I students, faculty and staff receive one free ticket. College set to celebrate National Poetry Month

April is National Poetry Month, and The College of Idaho is celebrating with a variety of events both on and off campus. April readings with ties to C of I students and faculty members – including English professor and recently-named Boise Poet Laureate Diane Raptosh – are as follows:

C of I hosts unique ‘Music from the Fringe’ concert

Idaho arts lovers have an opportunity to enjoy a unique musical experience this spring as The College of Idaho presents the “Music from the Fringe” concert, a cello choir performance created through a special compositional process using the practice of remote viewing. The show is set for 7:30 p.m. March 30 inside the Langroise Recital Hall on the C of I campus in Caldwell. Tickets cost $10 for adults or $5 for seniors and students. C of I Chamber Singers to perform at Carnegie Hall

The College of Idaho Chamber Singers, led by Professor Brent Wells, are performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City this spring as part of the prestigious Distinguished Concerts International New York series. The student group is spending six days in New York, highlighted by a March 24 concert featuring the music of Grammy Award-winning composer and conductor Eric Whitacre.

C of I opera presents Handel’s ‘Semele’

The College of Idaho Music Department is pleased to announce its 2013 opera production, an adapted performance of G.F. Handel’s "Semele." The opera will show at 7:30 p.m. nightly from Jan. 31 through Feb. 2, with a special 2 p.m. matinee performance on Feb. 2. All shows will take place inside Langroise Recital Hall. C of I set for chamber music recital

The College of Idaho music department is pleased to present an evening of strings as the student chamber music recital takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, inside Langroise Recital Hall on the C of I campus in Caldwell. The concert is free and open to the entire campus community and the public.
