College of Idaho music professor and jazz director Rob Walker will appear as a guest artist and composer during a Feb. 8 concert at the Fredonia High School auditorium in Fredonia, New York. Walker will spend several days working with various ensembles at the school, culminating in a free all-band concert during which five of his new compositions will debut.

“I am deeply honored to have been invited to compose for these quality ensembles and will enjoy working with the band students of the district,” Walker said.

The College of Idaho Department of Theatre & Speech Arts is set to present the inaugural C of I Play Reading Series, a sequence of four performances in which the actors read the dialogue in the script without the elements of scenery, costume or lighting. The series kicks off Jan. 24 with Poona the F*** Dog and Other Plays for Children (NOT a play for children), written by Jeff Goode and directed by Joe Golden, chair of the C of I theatre department. All readings in the series will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Langroise Studio Theatre on the C of I Campus in Caldwell.

The Feast of Carols is a longstanding College of Idaho tradition that rings in the holiday season with a musical celebration. This year, new choral director Dr. Brent Wells hopes to take the tradition to new heights. The Feast of Carols has been moved to Jewett Auditorium to accommodate a larger crowd, and Wells hopes to fill the building with guests both from campus and the Treasure Valley community for this year’s concert, which will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. Admission is free.

The College of Idaho will host the sixth annual Langroise Holiday Arts Fair on Friday, Nov. 11. This year’s fair is set to run from 4  to 7 p.m. in the foyer of the Langroise Center for Performing and Fine Arts on the C of I campus in Caldwell. The event, which is free and open to the public, presents an opportunity to view and purchase art created by College of Idaho students, faculty, staff and alumni.

The College of Idaho Department of Theatre and Speech Arts is proud to present its fall theatre production The Hot L Baltimore, a dramatic comedy by the late American playwright Lanford Wilson. The play will show at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3-5 and Nov. 9-12 inside the Langroise Studio Theatre on the C of I campus in Caldwell. There is a 2 p.m. matinee show on Sunday, Nov. 13. Caldwell Fine Arts will launch its 51st season in Jewett Auditorium with The College of Idaho Faculty Showcase of Music and Art, set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10. The opening performance will kick off a season featuring the music of Ireland and Scotland, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker ballet, the family-favorite play King Arthur’s Quest, the acclaimed Boston Brass Quintet, flamenco dance and more.

The College of Idaho is one of America’s top colleges and earns especially high marks for its theatre program and campus convenience according to the Princeton Review’s annual publication “The Best 376 Colleges.” C of I, cited regularly in the Princeton Review for its outstanding learning environment, was ranked No. 15 in the nation for “Easiest Campus to Get Around” and No. 20 for “Best College Theatre” in the 2012 publication released Tuesday, Aug. 2. C of I also was recognized as one of the top regional colleges in the West.
