The College of Idaho is pleased to offer the George V. Wolfe Endowed Scholarship for the 2013-14 academic year in honor of the legendary professor who founded the C of I Department of Political Economy in 1946. The scholarship is awarded each spring to an outstanding C of I student. 

An estate gift will honor a popular College of Idaho history professor and establish a fully endowed professorship dedicated to outstanding teaching in world history.

The $2.5 million gift, which has yet to be realized from an anonymous donor, will create the Franklin Specht Chair in History in honor of the professor emeritus who taught history courses at The College of Idaho for more than three decades.

Three of the most important cases currently before the United States Supreme Court – dealing with gay marriage, obtaining blood samples from suspected drunk drivers and legal suits against the government – will be argued by Treasure Valley attorneys before a mock court of College of Idaho students next week.

The College of Idaho will host a guest speaker as part of the Treasure Valley Psychology Lecture Series for the second consecutive year when University of Illinois professor Art Kramer presents “Take a Hike: Physical Activity, Cognition and Brain Function” at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, inside Langroise Auditorium on the C of I campus in Caldwell. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Immigration is the focus of the latest edition of College of Idaho Insights, with three professors discussing their recent research and classes dealing with a variety of issues connected to migration.

College of Idaho juniors Kendra Knighten and Ryan Gibson hope one day to help ease poverty through careers in international development. Award-winning author and social psychologist Dr. David Myers will visit The College of Idaho campus as a guest lecturer at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, inside the Langroise Auditorium. Myers’ lecture, “The Scientific Pursuit of Happiness,” is part of a Treasure Valley lecture series developed by C of I psychology professor Dr. Meredith Minear in collaboration with Dr. Eric Landrum at Boise State University and Dr. Benjamin Earwicker at Northwest Nazarene University.
