C of I France tour focuses on international business

A dozen College of Idaho students will study international business and economics first-hand during January as part of a month-long, faculty-led field course in France.

C of I community helps ‘Rake Up Caldwell’

The College of Idaho has always had a strong relationship with Caldwell. Service is a particularly important component of the College’s ties to the local community, and the campus capitalized on a big opportunity to serve Nov. 23 as Campus Ministries held its annual Rake Up Caldwell event.

“We are surrounded by a fantastic community that supports us to further our education and reach our goals” said C of I junior and Rake Up Caldwell supervisor Jocelyn Allen. “I think it is so key that we as students are given opportunities to give back to the community we live in.”

C of I publishes fall 2013 issue of ‘Quest’ magazine

The College of Idaho has published its fall 2013 issue of Quest magazine, which is in mailboxes now. The issue has a theme of “Leadership,” honoring the College’s longstanding tradition of educating leaders in many fields including politics, education, law, service and athletics.

C of I readies for annual Cultural Show

The College of Idaho’s vibrant international student community will showcase a wide variety of music, dance and artistic performances during the annual Cultural Show on Dec. 4. The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. in Jewett Auditorium on the C of I campus in Caldwell.  

C of I students honored at National Model UN

The College of Idaho brought home two awards from the National Model United Nations Conference held Oct. 25-27 in Washington, D.C. The C of I team, representing the West African nation of Togo, was named an “Honorable Mention Delegation,” an award that placed the C of I in the top 25 percent of all participating delegations and continued a string of five consecutive award-winning national conferences for the team. Model UN delegations are awarded for successfully advocating their country’s positions, leading other delegations in negotiations, and properly using the rules of procedure.

C of I honored for assisting first-generation students

The College of Idaho’s success in helping more first-generation Latino students graduate is featured in a new report by the Council of Independent Colleges titled “Making Sure They Make It! Best Practices for Ensuring the Academic Success of First-Generation College Students.” The C of I also is featured on the recently launched CIC/Wal-Mart College Success Awards website www.cic.edu/CollegeSuccessAwards.

C of I theatre presents ‘Baby with the Bathwater’

The College of Idaho theatre department is pleased to present its 2013 fall main stage production Baby with the Bathwater, a comedy written by Christopher Durang and directed by C of I adjunct theatre instructor Kathy Simpson. The play opens at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, and shows at 7:30 nightly on Nov. 8, 9 and Nov. 13-16 inside the Langroise Center for Performing and Fine Arts on the C of I campus in Caldwell. There also will be a closing matinee show at 2 p.m. Nov. 17.

C of I student completes 'Water for Peace' project in Haiti

It was an eventful summer for College of Idaho student Margarette Pierre-Louis, who completed her “Water for Peace” project by bringing 2,375 gallons of water, 240 trees and 300 water bottles to her hometown of Nan Misye, Haiti.

Pierre-Louis, a sophomore environmental studies major, hopes the project will bring peace to the village she calls home. In addition to bringing water and supplies, “Water for Peace” focused on education and planting seeds of change in the Nan Misye community.

Campus Ministries plans service trips

The College of Idaho is pleased to announce four opportunities for the campus community to participate in Potter’s Clay service trips this school year. The Department of Campus Ministries will lead service learning trips to Ensenada, Mexico, Los Angeles, Mexico City and the Dominican Republic. The trips are open to C of I students, faculty and staff.

C of I introduces new College Store on campus

The College of Idaho’s new College Store is open for business on the main floor of McCain Student Center. The store, formerly located in the McCain basement, carries a wide assortment of C of I clothing, gift items and souvenirs. The Coyote logo adorns a stylish array of t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and polo shirts, while a fresh wave of sportswear also is available thanks to the College’s recent partnership with Under Armour.
