Residential Life

Freshmen, beware…

To the freshmen:

Hayman is the ultimate stomping ground, and all of us here at the C of I are willing to admit it.  We all had “the best floor,” “the best class,” “the best fishbowl” … yes, yes it’s true.  However, there is something I must bring to your attention, and the sooner, the better.

Planting a Life in College

Feeling down about your homework load?  In need of a pick-me-up?  Well before you head to McCain for a Redbull…plant something green in your room!  There are plenty of benefits to adding a house plant in your living space.  Here are the top five reasons to bring a plant into your room…

Inside the Shelter

So it’s the second week of classes, and much like the rest of my fellow Yotes, I’m super busy with all of my classes. However, in a study of irony and spontaneity, I just got back from a game of Frisbee Golf around the campus, and now I’m settling into an evening of reading on the porch.

In my next post, I’ll talk a little bit about my classes, but today I’m going to take you inside the Delt Haus.

Today marks my first post with videos! My boss is cheering somewhere.

College Dorm Life

When I was a high school senior, I wondered what life was like in a college dorm.  Naturally I asked around and “googled” it, and tried to learn more about what it would be like to live in a college dorm. Of course, nothing on Google prepared me for what I was about to encounter.

I am here! :)

I’m here! All these weeks of planning have finally come to an end. It all started on a Sunday. After a sad round of goodbyes to everyone I love, I was off on a four hour drive to Caldwell, Idaho. It was a sad day.  I was lucky enough to move in early because of a debate retreat, and even with the extra time, it took me around 12 hours and a couple of trips to Wal-Mart to settle down and have my room perfect.

What to do?

By Madai Montes

It’s so close; I can smell it! College! The dorm life, the awesome campus events, the life changing classes; I cannot wait for this experience to begin! The countdown is beginning to come to an end, and by the end of this week, I will be making my next post as a college student. However, no matter how excited I am, I am still extremely stressed. So, because I hope this doesn’t happen to any other incoming freshman, here are some tips on what to do once school starts to sneak up on you.

Spots on campus

By Dorgham Abusalim

I know that many students come to our campus while having a decent idea about how it looks like, and where the nice hang-out spots are at. But since approximately 10% of our students are international, they rarely develop such solid view of our beautiful campus.

Here are some of my favorite/memorable spots on campus:

Just around the corner

Looking forward ...

By Melanie Palmer

I’ll be making the trek back to Caldwell in about a week and a half, and lately I’ve been thinking about the things that I’m most excited about. Sometimes I feel like I live a double life between school and home – the difference in people, places, and routines makes me more aware of what I miss about the alternative.  Here are some of the things about my C of I life that I’m most excited about returning to…
