I love hashtags. If you use Twitter, or Google+, or if you’ve been paying attention to the news you’re probably familiar with them. They’re convenient ways to indicate your topic and are incredibly useful in micro-blogging. For example, right now on Twitter, a couple of the trending topics worldwide are #LiesThatAlwaysWork and #EnNavidadNuncaFalta (never lacking in Christmas). It’s not always clear why some subjects persist and make it to the top of what the virtual world is talking about, but in any case they’re easy ways to show what you are talking about in the moment.

Continuing the my story from my last post, I had just agreed to get my hair cut with a professor, of whom I had considerable doubts on whether he could remember my name or not.

So the big Tuesday came…

So, a natural part of going to a college is a general commitment to paying student fees. These funds go into accounts run both by student government and the Office of Student Affairs, where it’s used in hosting and designing activities and programs specifically for the use by the students.

You know how everyone tells you that there are so many things going on campus? And how there is no possible way you won’t have anything to do on campus? Well what happens if everything is scheduled when you are not available? The minute you become available, nothing is going on, or worse, nothing is open. It seems like everything I want to do, such as our hall program tie dye party or the caramel apple party, is always scheduled around when I am not available. It’s like everyone knows my schedule and secretly makes sure to schedule everything so that I will not be able to attend. :)  JK.

Our campus is a hot spot.  I mean, it is really bumpin’.

There are always ample events and activities taking place, hosted by both the school and the community.  We students are always running from one end of the campus to the other.  Little did I know, however, that there is a world outside of Caldwell, Idaho between September and May! (Say whatttt?!?)

Seriously! Have a look for yourself… I haven’t been wasting any time this year in exploring the world beyond the quad…

Literally. Not only is it Human vs Zombies week here at The College of Idaho, but it is also flu season. It is kind of like the game Humans vs Zombies, someone starts off with the disease and once that person touches someone else it starts to spread. It’s a little more technical than that, but you get my point.

You know how much I love the cafeteria.  But sometimes, I just feel like I need to get out of our bubble and have some of my own culinary adventures.  Here are some of the top Caldwell eateries which earn the votes of your C of I peers - based on quality, price, and experience – we approve.

I’m in college. A conversation with two or more people can’t last too long without it eventually turning towards Jimmy Stewart or Harry Potter.

I read the series. I’m familiar with all the Potter lore. I hated the movies. People (girls) rag on me all the time about this. I hate them. But the great thing about talking about these teenage wizards is that it’s easy to draw a lot of lines between the fantasy of Hogwarts and our campus.

This last weekend was the ten year anniversary of 9/11, one of the most tragic events in our history. I remember I was in the 3rd grade when this happened, and I had no idea what was going on. I felt so lost and confused that day, until my parents sat me down and explained what had really happened. I remember wondering who would be evil enough to do something like that to an entire country. That was the day America became united.

I’m writing this post on Tuesday, and I’m expecting it to be published maybe by Friday of this week. I know I said I’d talk about my classes in my next post, but I have more interesting things that happened.

I had an interesting weekend; a lot of strange, scary, and cool experiences not directly related to C of I happened that fall generally under my winding yarn that makes up my tale in college.
