Basterecchea is in his second season with the Coyotes...had a phenomenal rookie season, qualifying for the NAIA Outdoor Championships in the decathlon, placing 12th...placed second at the Cascade Conference Championships in the decathlon, setting a school record with a score of 6,218...became the first-ever C of I men's runner to compete at USATF Junior Nationals, placing 13th in the decathlon... also holds school record in the indoor 60-meters, the long jump, high jump, pole vault, and heptathlon...a 2010 graduate of Gooding High, where he competed in track and field…claimed the 2009 and 2010 3A state title in the high jump, winning the 2010 state title in the long jump...personal best marks of 49.68 in the 400-meters, 6-6 in the high jump, 21-11 in the long jump, and 43-0 in the triple jump...salutatorian of his senior class...undecided area of study...parents Rick and Debbie Basterrechea.
