Dr. Jasper LiCalzi Political Economy Professor
Jasper LiCalzi is a professor of Political Economy and the current chair of the Department of Political Economy. He has been a member of the College of Idaho faculty since 1993. Within the department, Dr. LiCalzi offers courses on national government institutions, state and local politics, and public policy issues such as health care, the environment, and macroeconomics,
Dr. LiCalzi's research has concentrated on interest groups in Idaho and the Idaho state legislature. He has recently completed a book for University of Nebraska Press (Idaho Politics and Government: Culture Clash and Conflicting Values in the Gem State), which will be published in late 2018. The book examines governmental and political institutions in Idaho through the prism of political culture.
Dr. LiCalzi is the political analyst for KIVI Channel Six and is frequently featured as an expert on political economy by radio and newspapers both locally and nationally. He is also a member of the Advisory Board for the Idaho Center for Fiscal Policy.
Dr. LiCalzi also teaches courses in Environmental Studies and in the College's First Year Writing Program. Dr. LiCalzi is the faculty advisor for the College Republicans, Young Democrats, and the Lambda Chi Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
