About Dr. John Thuerer

Counseling psychology, abnormal psychology, general psychology

Personal Statement

I love all things baseball. Once, I watched the Home-run Derby during All-Star Break with Hank Aaron and a host of other folks I grew up watching on TV as heroes!

I love to exercise - especially with my family. I was a swimmer at Michigan State University, love to ski and snowboard, and ride my bicycle in the summer months. I am active on several boards in Boise- several of which are directly related to counseling which I love to do.

I have three fabulous kids. All three have, at one time or another, attended The College. Maggie, my oldest, has gone on to further training and is now a nurse. Danny, is a member of the hot-shots fire fighters during the summer and spends the rest of his year doing what I wish I were- riding his bicycle (well, mine, actually) and skiing! Tommy, the youngest, is currently enrolled. I am married and living in a great part of the country where we love to be outdoors- for example, this summer we took an extended bicycle ride through Idaho. I started a successful counseling practice, read everything I can get my hands on, spend a bit too much time on my iPad (the best present EVER!), and I love teaching both in the classroom and beyond. My office is a favorite hangout for students and you are welcome to drop by and chat about psychology or other things in your life!
