C of I begins fundraiser to repair clock tower

On November 30, 1990, Boise philanthropist Velma Morrison pressed a button to personally sound the chimes on a new landmark for The College of Idaho’s quadrangle — the Velma Morrison Centennial Clock Tower, where students still meet and pass by on a regular basis.

Just before noon on August 21, 2017, the sky began to darken. A drop in temperature accompanied the suddenly dimmed natural light. As the shadows turned closer to darkness, the lamps on The College of Idaho’s campus began to turn on automatically, shining as bright as they would on any summer evening, despite it being the middle of the day.

In a matter of days, new students from all over the world will pour into the Morrison Quadrangle, ready to take their first steps as the Class of 2021.
