Admission Requirements

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) program is designed for already-certified teachers who are seeking to advance their career.  Persons eligible to matriculate in this program must complete the Master of Education Application, which includes:

1. Requirement to upload the following:
   1. Transcript(s) from all institutions of higher education attended;
   2. An essay describing beliefs about teaching/learning and reasons for wishing to enroll in the M.Ed. program;
   3. The email addresses of two individuals – whether from a principal with whom you have worked, a college professor or a colleague – who will complete a recommendation form (sent directly by The College to your references) and who can speak to the ability to be successful in a graduate program and effectiveness as a teacher;
2. Evidence supporting a 3.0 or higher GPA in the most recent 30 credits

The College of Idaho’s Master of Education (M.Ed.) program requires a SPRING start as its unique curriculum builds together seamlessly to offer you a grounding in second language acquisition and educational model designs. Launch your journey today by submitting the online application by January 15, 2024.

Requirements for Graduation

To earn an M.Ed. degree at The College of Idaho, a candidate’s graduate coursework must be completed with a grade of “B” or better. Graduates of the program are required to complete a thesis approved by a thesis committee and the department chair. Candidates must be continually enrolled while completing the program. If all coursework has been completed except the thesis, the candidate must enroll in Thesis Completion (EDU-681) each term until the thesis has been accepted by the thesis committee and the department chair. The responsibility rests with candidates to see that their program of study satisfies all of the requirements.
