Since its founding in 1891, The College of Idaho has embodied the mantra of its founding President William Judson Boone: “Let them come, let them all come, and we will see what they can do.”  The College therefore focuses on affordability for all of its programs to ensure cost isn’t a barrier to access to an excellent education.

Books & Insurance

Aditional Costs

The Sport Administration Graduate Certificate Program requires students to purchase books for their courses, the cost of which is approximately $100. Students may order books from the College of Idaho’s online bookstore, which is operated by MBS Direct.  Students who have book vouchers can use those vouchers through MBS Direct.

Alternatively, students may order or rent books from any other source (such as Amazon.com, your favorite independent bookseller, a textbook site like textbooks.com or ecampus.com, or direct from the publisher).  Before doing so, be sure to review book requirements carefully and obtain the correct edition. The ISBN number is the best way to be sure you are ordering the correct edition.

The Cruzen-Murray Library doesn't endorse any of the retailers listed. We are providing this information as an FYI for College of Idaho students.

Student Health Insurance

All graduate students enrolled in a residential certificate, master’s or doctoral program at The College of Idaho must have health insurance coverage.  Students enrolled in exclusively online programs are encouraged but not required to have health insurance, unless the student’s immigration status requires insurance.

If you are required to have health insurance, a fee for student health insurance is included in fees collected by the Business Office unless the student can show proof of comparable coverage through their parent’s policy, a spouse’s coverage, or through employment.  Students will be responsible for either waiving coverage or enrolling in coverage by the end of the first week of classes.  Students failing to take action by the stated deadline will be automatically enrolled in and billed for insurance.  The cost of the plan is payable on the first semester's bill.  Approved waivers will result in student health insurance fees being removed from the student's account and funds refunded, if applicable.

Health insurance premiums are $2,800 for the 2023-2024 plan year.
