C of I Chorale and Sinfonia perform in the Jewett Auditorium.

As the spring semester draws nearer to its end at the College of Idaho, the talented performers in the C of I music department are ready to present their spring concerts to close out the school year, including both vocal and instrumental sounds in a variety of genres and styles.

The C of I Chorale, Chamber Singers and Major Sixth will begin the series of year-end concerts at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2 in the Langroise Recital Hall for their popular “World of Song” concert, an annual spring vocal performance concert featuring selections of international origin, from traditional folk music to modern compositions. The concert will also feature guest artists from Victory Charter School. C of I music professor Dr. Brent Wells will serve as director, with accompaniment performed by Dee Slenknecht and Cynthia Wells.

The choral concert will be followed by “The Road Goes Ever On,” a dual concert featuring the C of I Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble, directed by Michael Lucas Strother and Sandon Mayhew. The two performing groups will hold their concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3 in the Langroise Recital Hall.

Music recitals will carry on into the weekend, starting with a recital by Marilyn Short at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 4 and followed by a Piano Studio Recital at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5 featuring the piano students of Robyn Wells. Both performances will be held in the Langroise Recital Hall.

The week of performances will close with two performances. First, senior music/psychology double major Mariah Hudson will perform her senior recital starting at 2 p.m. in the Langroise Recital Hall. The Chamber Music Recital will follow starting at 7:30 p.m., featuring works by Stamitz, Gliere, Telemann, Hayes, Mozart, Brubeck and Grieg performed by ten chamber music students, including a performance by C of I’s award-winning undergraduate string quartet.

Each performance is free to attend and open to the public. For more information about C of I’s music programs, visit https://www.collegeofidaho.edu/academics/departments/music.
