CofI Alumnus Reinaldo Gil Zambrano Explores Art, Identity, and Belonging in PBS Feature

October 22, 2025

Boise, Idaho — In a recent installment of Art by Northwest, College of Idaho alumnus Reinaldo Gil Zambrano reflects on the formative influence of his time at the college and how it shaped his trajectory as an artist committed to community engagement.

Zambrano, whose interview centers on ideas of “home” and identity, credits the College of Idaho for providing critical connections and support during his years as a student. “The College of Idaho gave me the opportunity to connect with influential professors, a challenging cohort of art graduating class, a proactive international students organization who helped shape my path of using the arts as a tool for community development, people like Goran Fazil, Jenette Annabelle, Arnold Hernandez, and Garth Claassen,” he says.

Since graduating, Zambrano has pursued a practice that bridges artistic expression and social purpose, using visual art as a medium through which to foster dialogue and inspire belonging across diverse communities. His interview explores how memory, migration, and the search for place inform his creative work—and how those themes resonate beyond the studio.

The full interview, “Impressions of Home: Reinaldo Gil Zambrano,” airs on Art by Northwest and is available for streaming on the Cascade PBS website. Cascade PBS
