- Recent graduate Aliza Auces ’16 received a feature in the Idaho Press-Tribune for the work she’s accomplishing in Washington D.C. working in health policy! - Coyote Athletics Roundup: While the men’s team is on its way to the NAIA Nationals, the women’s basketball team’s season ended in the quarterfinals of the women’s CCC Championships in a tight 60-57 loss against Oregon Tech. They finish their season at 11-16 overall, winning seven of their last eight regular season games…Men’s baseball split their series against Ottawa and won their series against MSU-Billings while the women’s softball team succeeded in their sweep of Willamette. The team stands at 9-2 overall and carries a win streak of five games going into their home double header against Walla Wall on Feb. 25…Men’s lacrosse started their first varsity season with a bang, crushing Gonzaga 22-10 and a record-setting victory against Pacific Lutheran 29-3, in which R.J. Walker recorded the most goals by a C of I player in a single match since Cody Hart in 2007…The Lady Yotes ski team won their 4th-straight Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference title. On the men’s side, Lucas Underkoffler earned the NWCSC individual title and helped lead the men to their third NWCSC team championship in four years. The teams seek to keep up their momentum as they head to Wyoming for the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association Western Regional Championships…Molly Vitale-Sullivan broke the school record in the 5,000-meter run at the Husky Invite, earning NAIA Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors — the first women’s runner to earn the award since 2014. Vitale-Sullivan was also honored as Red Lion-Cascade Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, and was joined by Josh Brown as the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week and Alex Martin as the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week.
- Faculty and Staff News: Head basketball coach Scott Garson was profiled by the Idaho Statesman regarding the success of the Yotes under his leadership. Garson’s 122-40 record as the head coach is highlighted, as are his strong personal touch in maintaining positive relationships with his players. “We’re building a culture that shows we can play against anyone,” Garson said in his interview…Campus safety officer Ben Mosely was interviewed by KBOI Channel 2 during February’s safety courses regarding shooter awareness.
- Alumni News and Notes: Amanda Brandel ’06 joined the Orion Integration Group as a strategic account manager. Prior to joining Orion, Brandel had seven years of experience working as an operations sales administrator for Cisco Systems in addition to event coordination and collaboration adoption with CompuNet…Kris Komori ’05 was nominated for the third consecutive year as a Northwest Semifinalist for Best Chef in the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards. Komori currently cooks at Boise’s State & Lemp. Komori is the only Idaho semifinalist in this year’s awards.
