- If you’ve been keeping up with our YouTube account, you’ll have been keeping track of the construction timelapses we’ve posted weekly on the progress of the Cruzen-Murray Library. Now that the library is joyfully complete, we’ve stitched together all those timelapses so you can view the construct process from start to finish! - Last January, Boise-based artist Bryan Anthony Moore took up residence at The College of Idaho’s Rosenthal Gallery of Art to begin work on a unique combination of installation and performance. With his exhibit nearing its completion date, the public is invited to visit an upcoming reception on April 14 to view the closing of his politically inspired Brazen Bull: A Natural Mythstory of North America. The closing reception will take place from 4:30-7:30 p.m. and will mark the end of Moore’s time as an artist-in-residence. - Idaho Falls Power is accepting applications for the Idaho Consumer-Owned Utilities Association’s (ICUA) Youth Rally, which will be held from July 9-14 at the College of Idaho. Applications are due on May 1. Idaho Falls Power sponsors several local high school students at the rally, where youth representing utilities in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Alaska participate in a variety of activities and classes to promote positive relationships and build skills in leadership, teamwork, perseverance and more. - Coyote Athletics Roundup: Football quarterback Darius-James Peterson was featured in the Idaho Press-Tribune as part of the paper’s coverage of the team’s spring practices. The team will hold its spring game on April 20…Men’s lacrosse earned a major home victory against the University of Providence, advancing to 5-2 for the season to date…Hayley Morse crushed the College’s shot put and hammer throw school records at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival at Chabot College, becoming the first C of I throwing to surpass the 45-foot mark in the shot put and the first to clear the 160-foot mark in the hammer. Her efforts earned her Red Lion-Cascade Conference Player of the Week honors. The men’s team recorded eight new Cascade Conference provisional marks at the event. The baseball team lost their five-game series against the University of British Columbia, ending with a close loss on April 1…Softball dropped their series against Eastern Oregon, but rallied back with three victories against Northwest University to take that series and advance their overall season record to 15-14…The women’s basketball program will be holding their ninth-annual Lady Yote Open Golf Tournament on May 4 at TimberStone Golf Course, the largest fundraiser of the year for the squad. Check out more information here! In addition, the cross country and track and field programs will hold their seventh-annual Coyote Bolo Ball on May 4 in the Basque Center in Boise. More information can be found here!...Sophomore Katie Growe led the way for the women’s golf team in the Walla Walla Invitational, recording the top-two scores of the tournament and helping secure the team’s victory and earning Red Lion-Cascade Conference Player of the Week honors in the process. The men’s golf team took second place overall.
- Faculty and Staff Notes: Our co-presidents Doug Brigham and Jim Everett have officially taken office as of April 2! The Idaho Press-Tribune wrote a feature about the College’s new leaders — check it out here!...Political Economy Professor Jasper LiCalzi once again shared his perspectives on Idaho politics as a political consultant, sharing his thoughts on the goals and achievements of this year’s Idaho State Legislature. You can read Jasper’s thoughts here!...Mike Cody will assume full Offensive Coordinator responsibilities for the C of I football team heading into the 2018 season, which will be his third season with the program. His position will be replaced by former Boise State All-American and Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman Nate Potter. Six-year NFL veteran Shiloh Keo will also join the staff to coach defensive backs, while current secondary coach Josh Brookshire will take over as the Yotes Director of Football Operations.
- Alumni News and Notes: Rita Jones was featured for her work at Lehigh University as its director for the Center for Gender Equity. Her College of Idaho undergraduate time was referenced, as it was where Jones said she had found inspiration from a professor who recommended she read Audre Lorde as part of her senior honors thesis.
