Two years later, that folksong, “Suliko,” is now a published choral arrangement that is being sung in places far from the country of Georgia, a former republic of the Soviet Union near Turkey.
The award is given to students nominated by staff and faculty as someone who best embodies the values of the College community. Those values include community, integrity, leadership and service.
In no time, Phillips, Padilla and Waldron had brought their sewing machines from their homes and set up in Blatchley Hall to begin the process of producing 260 masks from scratch.
The fashion show is being held in the hope to bring more awareness to both the campus’ Chic Boutique storefront and the environmental benefits of recycling clothes.
“The C of I will not only teach you theory,” Samardzic added. “It will provide you a chance to practice and experience it, and even more important, a chance to inherit some awesome values that will shape you as a person for life.”
