Ian Clifford, a senior at Renaissance High School in Meridian, will be attending The College of Idaho this fall on a full academic scholarship, fully funded by an anonymous donor.
Only a month after receiving their first award from the American Institute of Architects, the design team behind The College of Idaho’s Cruzen-Murray Library has once against received top honors from a second jury of AIA professionals.
Two years ago as a sophomore at The College of Idaho, Sead Muradbegovic successfully campaigned to join the student senate out of a desire to help the campus community.
Now a senior with a taste for public service, Muradbegovic has his sights set on helping an even wider community as a candidate for the Idaho State Legislature, running as a Democrat for the office of District 10A State Representative.
The College of Idaho’s Cruzen-Murray Library has become a popular and campus-defining landmark since its grand opening nearly a year ago – and the American Institute of Architects has likewise given its seal of approval.
Just before noon on Oct. 5, 2018, the sun peeked out from behind its cloud cover and past the trees lining the perimeter of The College of Idaho’s recently improved Wagers Memorial Garden, named in honor of former C of I Trustee John W. Wagers ‘57. C of I co-president Jim Everett noted the significance of the timing – the appropriateness for sunlight to grace the garden after a cloudy and foggy start to the morning, just before the garden completed its formal ribbon cutting.
College of Idaho Co-President Jim Everett asked this question as he stood before a group of 75 high school students, assembled on the C of I campus as part of the 6th Annual Caldwell Youth Forum. Some of the students looked uncertainly around the room; a handful slowly raised their hands.
“Come on, who in this room is a role model?” Everett challenged the students. “I’ll keep this going until everyone’s hands are up.”
Before long, the students had all confidently raised their hands. Everett smiled encouragingly at each of them.
The College of Idaho sends its condolences to the friends and family of Professor Emeritus Wallace “Wally” G. Lonergan, a C of I graduate and later longtime member of the C of I’s business faculty who passed away in Caldwell, Idaho from natural causes on Monday, Aug. 27, 2018 at the age of 90.
It took more than a little bit of rain to stop C of I freshman Wyatt Smith from getting into the water during this year’s McCall Wilderness Experience.
2018 was a banner year for The College of Idaho in terms of major construction projects, from the completion of renovations to Voorhees and Finney Halls to the grand opening of the Cruzen-Murray Library. Each project now has the opportunity to be recognized among the top construction projects in Idaho as finalists in the Idaho Business Review’s 2018 Idaho Top Projects awards.
School will be in session for students at The College of Idaho later this month, but our undergrads aren’t the only ones who are invited to learn something new this fall thanks to the return of C of I Community Learning classes starting this September.
