The College of Idaho’s English department will host two presentations of visiting writers next week in the Cruzen-Murray Library, including the College of Southern Idaho’s Shane Brown at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 23 and current Idaho Writer in Residence Christian Winn at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25.
As the 2018 Spring Semester draws closer to its conclusion, it’s time for The College of Idaho’s students to once again present what they’ve learned at this year’s 13th Annual Student Research Conference, taking place beginning at noon on Saturday, April 28 at several locations across the C of I’s campus.
Seven College of Idaho senior art majors will come together at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 20 to present the 2018 Senior Art Exhibition, “As Above, So Below,” at the Rosenthal Gallery of Art.
Each of the seven art majors — Melanie Miller, Casey Alcoser, Paula Schneider, Barbara Downs, Quin McLaughlin, Jordan Scogin and Emily Hansen — will present their personal artwork in a wide variety of media, from pen and ink and watercolor paints to wood, glass and acrylics. While each of the artists is presenting their unique work, they saw unifying themes begin to unveil themselves as they planned the exhibition, primarily the duality between light and darkness.
It’s a classic tale of forbidden love, clever ruses, and rubber chickens — and it’s coming to The College of Idaho’s Langroise Studio Theatre this April.
The College of Idaho Theatre Department is proud to present “Scapin,” a classic farcical comedy adapted by Bill Irwin and Mark O’Donnell from Molière’s 1671 play “Les Fourberies de Scapin,” which will play for two weekends starting at 7:30 p.m. from April 5-7 and April 12-14, along with 2 p.m. matinee performances on April 8 and April 15.
Last January, Boise-based artist Bryan Anthony Moore took up residence at The College of Idaho’s Rosenthal Gallery of Art to begin work on a unique combination of installation and performance. With his exhibit nearing its completion date, the public is invited to visit two upcoming receptions this April to discuss and analyze his politically inspired Brazen Bull: A Natural Mythstory of North America.
Two years ago, The College of Idaho String Quartet was not selected to compete at the Boise Chamber Music Society’s annual Young Artist String Quartet Competition. Last year, the quartet competed, but did not place.
But this year, at the 13th annual competition held on March 17, the quartet not only competed, but won the top prize among the collegiate level competitors, marking the first time since 2011 that C of I’s undergraduate quartet received top honors.
San Francisco-based poet Megan Levad will visit The College of Idaho this April to present a reading from her most recent book, “What Have I to Say to You,” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4 at the Cruzen-Murray Library Presentation Room.
The members of Catapult Shadow Dance has captivated American audiences with their unique style of shadow artistry for years — and on March 27, the company will perform in Caldwell on the College of Idaho's campus as part of Caldwell Fine Arts' 2018 season.
The College of Idaho will once again offer the campus community a night at the opera at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 16-17 in the Langroise Recital Hall with “An American Opera Showcase,” an event produced by the C of I music department which will feature scenes from seven iconic American operas performed by a cast of 11 talented student musicians.
Alcoser will add playwright to his list of accomplishments at this February’s Region VII conference of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival between Feb. 19-23. Alcoser’s ten-minute play, “h/ECHO/kes” (pronounced as “he chokes”), has been named a regional semifinalist for the KCACTF National Playwriting Program — the first C of I student in the program’s history to have their play performed at the regional conference.
